Seminar in Twentieth Century Art

CANADIAN WOMEN ARTISTS

This seminar course will explore the careers, accomplishments and circumstances of twentieth-century Canadian women artists.In the first half of the course we will develop a rich shared knowledge of the topic through lectures, film screenings, discussions and a visit to the Musée national des beaux art in Québec.During this period, students will settle on an individual research topic and develop a research proposal.Team and individual conferences as well as a library research workshop at the Bishop’s University Library in Lennoxville will provide scaffolding for the development of these topics.In the second half of the course, students will present their research-in-progress to the class and elicit discussion on questions related to their projects.
