In this introductory course, historical and contemporary theories related to motor learning and control will be presented. Through a series of lectures, workshops, and directed reading, this course will explore the neural basis of movement production, the information processing capacities of the brain, as well as the factors benefiting the acquisition of motor skills. At the end of the course, students are expected to be able to understand processes during the production of motor responses as well as to evaluate the effectiveness of different intervention strategies in the context of skill acquisition.
