Indigenous peoples are often ignored in the study of history, even considered as “people without history.” This is false. Indigenous societies around the world have been authors of their own history, and interacted with systems of rule originating in other locations through global colonialism. This course looks at how Indigenous peoples have affected historical developments, and how history has affected Indigenous peoples.
