Acting with Song I is an acting class where music and text are explored equally, while singing represents a major means of creating a stage character. The class also includes a movement/dance component, so students should be prepared to engage with that while singing and acting. Over the duration of the course, each student will get an opportunity to learn a minimum of two songs: a solo and a duet/trio as well as one short scene from a musical. It is advised that you take a movement course and vocal technique class to compliment what you will be learning here and to become a “triple threat”. Additionally, students can explore singing options in English or French.
You will learn:
• How to create and share stage energy while being in the “present”
• How to interact with a stage partner/partners
• How to analyse the song from the actor’s point of view
• Different types of transitions between the scene and the song
• How to choose a good song for you
• How to continuously improve your performance
• How to integrate dance and movement into a song
• How to request and give feedback on song/scene performance
• And much more…
