Recording Technology II is a course designed to give musicians new perspectives on digital recording techniques involving a Digital Audio Workstation (DAW) and lead them to be creative and up to date using the tools available in this new “digital world”.

After completing the introduction course (MUS378), students are ready to experiment with more advanced functionalities of the Pro Tools software’s interface and improve the quality of their mixes by using signal processing like equalization, compression, and time-based effects.

The Recording Technology II class will also allow them to choose the right microphone and its placement for different instruments such as drums, bass, guitars, piano, keyboards, and vocals.

The design of this course should enhance creativity and musical confidence by experiencing the production of personal projects and mixes through professional situations like overdub and live recordings.

Students will also have the chance to experiment with the producer’s tasks like choosing the microphones and their placement, directing a team and/or other musicians for studio and live recordings.

It is a lot of fun, and it brings musicians new skills that will change the way they make or think about the music!
