The intent of the course is to encourage and challenge pre-service teachers to both appreciate and critically analyze the contributions of philosophy to the way education in Canada lives and functions. The expectation is that the pre-service teacher recognizes that philosophies and philosophers, whether they exist in the present or the past, are very much a part of our collective professional history and contribute (positively and negatively) to teaching today.
