These courses consist of 10 times 60 minutes of private lessons on an instrument or in voice. Open to Music Minors, Majors, and Honours students or with permission of the instructor. An audition is required. There is no end-of-term jury for MUS 172.

However, all other required principal instrument performance courses include a jury exam. The lesson schedule goes in the agreement of the instructor and the student. They start after add/drop date.
*There is a fee surcharge levied each term. Please see fee schedule “Music Practicum” under “Other Fees”.

Attendance at studio Recitals and Music Chez Nous concerts is required for all these courses. Not attending the concerts will consist of -2% per concert. Before each concert, Students must see the Music Chez Nous manager to sign the attendance list at the Bandeen Hall entrance.

Performance at Studio Recitals is required for MUS272-273-372 and 373, but students from MUS172 and MUS173 are also welcome to perform. They should announce their intention two weeks prior to the studio dates.

The schedule for the Fall 2023 semester is November 17th and 24th, from 12:30 to 3 p.m. in Bandeen Hall. Attendance to both is required, and unmotivated absence consists of -2% on students’ final grade for every missed Studio Class. No-show for their performance is -10% on their final mark. Monique Lafaille will send the Studio Schedule to students and tutors.

Students intending to choose the Honours program should declare their intent in writing by the fourth full-time semester. The Department must approve an Honours thesis or recital proposal. An average of at least 70%, calculated on the marks obtained in all
courses attempted in both the first and second 30-credit program years are required.

Honours are available only to Music Students enrolled in Performance Honours who have completed MUS 373 (or MUS 273) with a grade of at least 80%.
