Welcome to ENG-210, an historical and critical study of children's literature in English. The course will include an overview of the history of children's literature and will introduce you to the critical analysis of a variety of its genres, including nursery rhymes, folk and fairytales, myths and legends, fables, poetry, and “classic” novels. We will discuss didacticism, oral and written discourse, appropriation, the development of special literature for children, feminism, and the representation of social issues.
