In this survey course on Modern Jazz, the content covers music from the "Be-bop Revolution" (1945) until today. Most of the focus will be concentrated in the 25 years from bop's inception(1945-70) where most of the significant innovations in the music occurred. A special emphasis will be placed on Charlie Parker and Miles Davis- arguably two of the most important contributors to the music- in order to be used as references for the many other great musicians in Modern Jazz.
